Conferences

Don't forget to send your conference slip back to school!  Conferences are next week!  I can't wait to meet with you and share the progress your child is making!  I think you will be amazed! I know that I am! :)

WOW, Paper is flying along with the wind!

The kids have used so much paper the past week!  I have introduced them to the writing center and to writing the room.  They love it!  They love to take the clipboards around the room and write down words they see.  They also love to write their friends' names!  I am sure that you are seeing some of these papers come home.  They are very proud of them and are showing everyone who comes into the room!  So beware if you visit during this time! :)

No School

Don't forget there is no school on Thursday and Friday, October 21 and 22.  It is fall break for the kids!  I will be attending meetings and workshops in the twin cities!  I hope that I can learn something new to bring back to the kids!  Of course, I always like to get some new things while I am there so the kids will probably tell you about that when I come back! :)

What a Fast Week!

This week has flown by!  I can't believe that it is already Wednesday afternoon and there is a little over an hour left of school for the week!  We have done many things in a short amount of time!  The kids have been very good this week.  I was gone on Monday morning for a workshop.  They had a sub that was new to the building.  They were very helpful and showed her where to go and of course, how to do things the right way in Kindergarten! :)  They adapted very well and have worked really hard this week!  I can't believe it! They have grown so much in the 32 days they have been in school!  I can't wait until conferences to share with you all they have accomplished so far!

Short Week!

This coming week will be a short week!  We have school on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  We have Thursday and Friday off for Fall Break!  We will be working on the letter X this week.

What A Busy Week!

We had a very busy week in Kindergarten!  We talked about apples and pumpkins!  We made apple prints and pumpkin people.  The kids were very excited to put these up in the hallway!  They want everyone to see them!  They also can't wait to take them home to show their families!  We went to visit Mrs. Waltman in the computer lab and she showed us how to log on and log off of the computers.  The kids are very excited to finally go to the computer lab!  Reaher's Theater also came to visit and presented a play for us, called Hansel and Pretzel.  The kids loved it!  We are winding down our nursery rhyme unit.  The kids love it and love to do the songs that go with the nursery rhymes.

Alligators vs. Mice

As we were working on our Fire flames today for Fire Safety, we talked about the difference between being an Alligator and a Mouse.  I talked about how some students use mouse bites with their scissors, which are little snips, because it was taking them a LONG time to cut out their flames.  I talked about how we should use Alligator bites, big snips, to cut out our flames!  They thought it was so cute that I was using an Alligator voice and a mouse voice!  Not sure my voice was happy with that! :)  So for the rest of the time I could hear some of them chanting-"Alligators, Alligators, No Mice. Alligators, Alligators, No Mice."  Of the things they come up with!

Head and Shoulders!

In Reading, our story for the week is My Body Book.  The book talks about different body parts and the things your body can do, such as, swim, jump, run, read, etc.... We were talking about body parts andtrying to name a few of them.  They had a little more trouble with elbow, wrist, ankle, etc....  Some of the kids knew the song, Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.  I talked about a project that we could do to help us remember our body parts.  The kids were very excited to do a project.  So today, we made skeletons out of q-tips!  Talk about an undertaking!  Let's just say there was glue, q-tips flying and "stuff" all over! :)  The kids had a great time (some even named their skeleton), I grew a few more gray hairs and the skeletons are up on the wall!

Fall is Here!

We have started talking about Fall and all of the things that happen in the fall!  Apples fall from the trees, pumpkins are ready to be harvested and spiders move into the house to stay warm over the winter!  Of course the kids like to get me going, since they know I hate spiders!  I have asked them if they will be my spider killers!  I have some volunteers!  I had one who asked me for my address, as he was going to come over and take care of my problem! :)  My heart wanted to melt!  They want to be so helpful! :)

And since Fall is here!  Please remember to send sweatshirts or coats with your child!  It is still a little chilly on the playground when we go out to recess!

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my blog page!  I am hoping to keep it updated on the things that are going on in the room!  The kids share so much everyday that I am hoping to be able to share some of that on here! :)
